Frequently asked questions
Is BankStatementHub free?
+−
Yes. It's free while we're in early access, with no signup. Each conversion can include up to 10 pages — select the pages that contain transactions.
Which banks are supported?
+−
It isn't tied to a fixed list of banks. Most statements are read straight from the PDF's text by their column layout, and scanned ones are read as images, so most bank and credit card statements work. If one of yours doesn't convert cleanly, tell us through the feedback page.
What happens to my statement after I upload it?
+−
Statements downloaded from online banking (text-based PDFs) are converted right in your browser, so the file never leaves your computer. Scanned statements, and layouts we can't read in the browser yet, need online processing: we ask first, then the pages are processed in memory on our server and discarded. Nothing is kept, and your data is never sold or used for anything else.
Can it read scanned or password-protected PDFs?
+−
Yes. Scanned statements work because each page is read as an image. For password-protected PDFs you'll be asked for the password, which is used only to open the file.
Which export formats are available?
+−
Excel (.xlsx) with a summary and category sheet, plain CSV, QuickBooks Online CSV, Xero CSV, Quicken for Windows CSV, QIF for older Quicken versions, and OFX for apps like GnuCash and Moneydance. Choose the format on the review screen.
How accurate is the conversion?
+−
When the statement prints a running balance, every row is checked against it and mismatches are highlighted so you know exactly where to look. Automated extraction can still make mistakes, so review the result before using it for accounting or tax.
